Early in 2020 and just before the first lockdown, I took a series of photos of doors in and around Chichester Cathedral. I wasn’t to know then that the closed door would become a poignant symbol of those dark days of seclusion and separation. But these ancient doors remind me too of the countless people who have passed through them over the centuries; through times of earlier pandemics, wars and more peaceful and tranquil times. And so, these images combine lament and hope.
