Many layered mixed-media paintings and portraits exploring the passage of time, memories and personal histories
Much of this mixed media work is on cradled plywood panels, allowing layers of paint, collage (including handprinted tissue and vintage ephemera) asemic writing and mark making to be built up and then excavated, revealing unexpected marks and colours. This creates a fascinating to-and-fro play between random ‘happenings’ and a restoring of ‘order’ and builds a rich layer of texture, a palimpsest of thoughts and process.
We shall not cease from exploration And the end of all our exploring Will be to arrive where we started And know the place for the first time.
